Supporting Some Principles – Opposing Others:
I have just been accused of being a Trump supporter. Guilty of more than they have charged me with.
I am a supporter of the Institution of the Presidency with all the checks and balances provided in the writings of the Founding Fathers and in the actions of the man who could have been King of America but chose a wiser path – George Washington.
When I disagree with the President on a decision or direction I tell him about my disagreement and what I would have rather seen done. I do not go on television and eviscerate the President nor do I organize another political party to support my druthers.
I might even be a participant in a protest to draw attention to an issue – I can use the 2 Million Bikers to DC ride as an example of my commitment to principle. Or a second example is when Chik-Fil-A was attacked for using Christian principles in running its business. I rode 500 miles each way to line up in support of the owners choice and commitment and enjoyed my time with people of like mind. And the chicken was good, too.
I look forward to the next time that I can participate singularly or in a group in support of a principle that I live by or in opposition to those who would seek to repress Christianity, The Constitution or the right of individuals to school their children according to their conscience. To misquote a popular western program of my youth – “Have Bike – Will Travel”. My apologies to Palladin, Richard Boone and the creators of the program that I enjoyed so much.
